Deans & Homer is looking for an experienced software engineer who is comfortable with both frontend and backend development. The full stack developer will work closely with the Solutions Architect and other key business stakeholders to design, develop, and provide ongoing support for critical customer-facing, web-based software solutions.
Responsibilities
• Develop front-end web app, including some design
• Build new features from the ground up
• Maintain and upgrade existing code
• Communicate with stakeholders across multiple departments
• Explain complex problems to stakeholders in layman’s terms
Deans & Homer’s current technical stack consists of applications running on or backed by Docker, NGINX, PHP 7, mySQL, Javascript (VueJS), Redis, and COBOL. This role is primarily focused on managing and developing containerized, consumer-facing, web-based applications written in PHP and using the Laravel framework, with interfaces to a legacy back-office system, written in COBOL and running on an IBM iSeries (AS400). Familiarity with iSeries application programming interfaces is a major plus.
Minimum Requirements
• 2+ years developing applications written in PHP
• Proficiency with core front end languages such as HTML, Javascript, and CSS
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Familiarity with popular datastore technologies like mySQL, Redis, and Memcache
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or Gitlab Runners
• Familiarity with containerization solutions like Docker
• Attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving skills
Desirable Additional Skills
• Experience with frameworks like TailwindCSS and VueJS
• Experience developing applications in Laravel
• Knowledge of PHP Toolkit for IBM i
• DevOps experience a plus
• Insurance or financial industry knowledge
Working on-site at our San Francisco office is preferred, but remote (US only) will be considered for the right candidate.
