Job Summary

Schedule, monitor, automate and maintain the data pipelines and relevant processes to deliver well structured, efficient and performant data assets to drive business decision making and operational processes. Supports the Data Operations Manager in the day to day operation of the Data Operations team. Working alongside team colleagues, identifying new opportunities and transitioning processes to the cloud whilst maintaining existing legacy SAS processes. Working in an agile manner, ensuring Enterprise Data Services (EDS) processes are constantly reviewed and run to agreed SLA's. Actively identify and manage emerging risks or issues within the area, escalating to the Data Operations Manager/Leads as appropriate.

In this job, I am accountable for:

• Scheduling, monitoring, automating and maintaining the existing processes to build the banks business data marts and data assets that will drive the BI, Regulatory Reporting and Analytical activities for the organisation.

• Building new or migrating existing Data Operations processes and data pipelines to new cloud-based platform and tooling.

• Making Data Engineering as efficient as possible! Lead and drive the monitoring and analysis of our processes to ensure they are completely automated and timed to perfection. Design and help create controls that allow the area to manage by exception.

• Being a member of a team of process driven experts who balance complex batch interactions as well as streamline and automate manual and inefficient processes. Showcase your flexibility by working with on-shore and off-shore colleagues to best effect.

• Helping deliver EDS data assets within the SLA's and KPI's agreed. Create the processes to record everything from the timeliness and integrity of our data to those of our suppliers. Be creative, making transparent and easily understood reports and interfaces which evidence how good we are holding ourselves (and our suppliers) to account.

• Being on the front line of Data Engineering operations. Interface with technology and business stakeholders to help ensure we give the best service possible.

• Assisting in the automation of everything. Acquire and automate inefficient processes from EDS and the wider businesses which generate data using innovative application of existing technology.

• Take your lead from the Data Engineering Manager/Leads, working with other EDS teams as appropriate to ensure the adoption of new technology and tooling to improve processes.

• Helping Data Operations deliver the control framework for Data Engineering. Manage our Risk profile by ensuring we have effective controls across all aspects of our data ecosystem and evidencing their effectiveness! Help lead the bank in defining what good looks like in the data world.

• Assisting the Data Operations Manager and Leads in engaging with CIO to help co-ordinate upstream CIO batch and database efficiencies to ensure that EDS can get it's data created for their stakeholders as quickly as possible.

Experience and knowledge:

• Strong automation skills

• Experienced developer using SAS EG, and/or DI Studio.

• Strong SQL

• Python/PySpark is desirable

• Experience of Cloud Platforms (ideally AWS or Azure)

• Experience with Cloud Data Orchestration tooling i.e.

• Airflow is desirable.
