Data Analytics Engineer

Job Description:

Who we are

Our team is the first in the world to use autonomous vehicles on public roads using end-to-end deep learning, computer vision and reinforcement learning. Leveraging our multi-national world-class research team we’re focusing on using data to learn more intelligent algorithms to bring autonomy for everyone, everywhere. We aim to be the future of self-driving cars, not vehicles that are told how to drive through hand-coded rules and maps, but ones which learn from experience and data.

We are a close knit team of researchers, engineers, scientists and more - some of us are straight out of school, others have worked on bleeding edge problems for some of the biggest tech companies on the planet - but we are all working together to solve autonomous driving.

To re-imagine mobility for everyone, everywhere, we need a diverse, brave, intelligent, collaborative, dependable, inclusive and open-minded team that are courageous enough to challenge the status quo.

Join us for a challenge like none other!

Where you'll have an impact Analytics engineering != just building data pipelines! It has so much more to it than writing Spark jobs scheduled by Airflow.

As an Analytics Engineer in the Applied ML group, you will focus on developing the best ways to integrate data across our AV stack, driving data capture and logging design, building reliable data pipelines, and designing the insightful datasets that underpin decision making at Wayve. Your strong sense of the needs of downstream engineers and data scientists will ensure you have multiplicative impact, spanning from enabling ground-level analytics for squads all the way up to enabling cloud-level understanding for leadership.

This is a fascinating opportunity to facilitate data-driven analytics in the complex and novel AV space.

This means you will:

  • Own the analytics pipelines that provides daily insight to the entire business
  • Provide thought leadership on the development direction of data capture and the analytics pipeline - to account for rapidly scaling data volumes while maintaining performance, excellent data quality and uptime.
  • Create and combine new curated datasets from granular and disparate source data, and prepare them for visualisation and post-experimentation analysis in analytics tools: to be used by researchers, engineers and even the executive team

What you'll bring to Wayve

Essential

  • Experience developing and owning analytics pipelines that provide curated data to the wider business and stakeholders
  • Experience writing and optimising production grade SQL, including optimising query execution (e.g. clustering and partitioning) and sequencing to improve overall pipeline performance
  • Experience writing robust tests for SQL pipelines (e.g for data quality)
  • Experience dealing with petabytes of data - and taking it from raw input sources such as event data to aggregated datasets for rapid analytics

Desirable

  • Prior experience using large datasets with distributed computing (e.g. spark, hadoop or other map-reduce tech)
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Looker and creating datasets used by other data-science teams
  • Track record of dealing with sometimes ambiguous requests and operating in a rapidly scaling environment
  • Experience working in a fast-moving tech company or startup

What we offer you

  • Competitive compensation with salary and equity
  • Immersion in a team of world-class researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs
  • A position to shape the future of autonomous driving and to tackle the biggest challenges of our time
  • Benefits such as an onsite chef, workplace nursery scheme, private health insurance, therapy, daily yoga, onsite bar, large social budgets, unlimited L&D requests, enhanced parental leave, and more!
  • This is a full-time role based in our office in King’s Cross, but we support flexible working, including working for up to 2 weeks from anywhere in the world. We trust you to know - what works best for your team and projects and ask that you have a healthy presence that enables the right meetings to happen in person and strong relationships to be built.
