Job Description:

Working within the framework of the network and product strategy and as part of the Group Communications and Infrastructure division, Group Voice Communications Voice Engineering is responsible for the design and development of all aspects of the Sky Voice network in order to support existing and new services for both Sky customers and internally to the Sky business.

What you'll do:

As a member of the Group Voice Communications Voice Engineering, you will:

  • Act as the design authority for detailed voice switch architecture.
  • Create High-level, Low-level and Engineering design documentation.
  • Act as subject matter expert on all aspects of IMS, SBC, SIP signalling and Voice over IP.
  • Act as interface for switch and voice related implementation and acceptance testing and produce all required documentation in support of the deployment of the switched network and the hand-over of equipment to Operations.
  • Produce and review RFPs for soft switch and network functionality.
  • Work with the chosen vendors in optimisation of designs and specification of required services.
  • Be responsible for the analysis of tender responses for switching products
  • Work within the ComReg and other European regulations.
  • Represent the company at meetings of relevant industry groups (e.g. ETSI, CCITT) and conferences, as required.
  • Assist the Capacity Planning group in producing and maintaining capacity for subscribers and interconnect circuits across the IP network, network elements, numbering plans, least-cost routing, physical and logical redundancy, etc.
  • Create Methods of Procedure (MOPs) to define the process for making changes on the live voice network with minimum disruption.
  • Provide 3rd / 4th line support to the Operations teams as a point of escalation for any design related network switching faults for the operational platforms and 1st line support during the deployment of the new systems.

What you’ll bring:

  • Appreciation of security and data management techniques for voice networks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to document information in a clear and precise manner for implementation, testing and operational teams as well as the ability to write in depth reports
  • Candidates should have in depth knowledge of the Telecoms market in the Republic of Ireland
  • Candidates should have at least 3 years’ experience in a voice network design roll
  • Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience with carrier-grade VoIP solutions within a network operator or a major equipment vendor
  • Candidates should have a detailed knowledge of the SIP protocol as well as other standards associated with telephony switching in the RoI and Europe
  • Candidates should have at least 3 years’ experience covering some of the following voice technologies: IMS, SBCs, and Voicemail systems, Residential voice service
  • Experience of virtualisation and cloud voice architectures
