About the role

With big plans, we’re on the hunt for a Business Intelligence Engineer. Reporting into the Head of Enterprise Systems, You will be responsible for defining and implementing a company-wide Business Intelligence capability for both internal and external consumption.

Key Relationships:

  • Data Team – Working across & with the Data Team, supporting the strategic aims, driving innovation & improving existing processes
  • Tech Team – Working with the Tech Team to ensure that relevant data requirements are factored into new and changing features across both product and carrier
  • Sales and Marketing – Working with both Sales and Marketing to ensure that the business has full reporting and intelligence capabilities in order to make decisions informed by data.
  • Finance – Working with the Finance Team to ensure that we have full access to reporting and intelligence for finance-related data across the organisation.
  • Carrier Team – Working with the Carrier Team to ensure Sorted can surface accurate & complete data from its functions to enable reporting & BI capabilities in order to make business & strategic decisions informed from the data.
  • Externally – Working with Sorted’s customers, Carriers, Retailers and their teams in order to achieve the business objectives.

The day-to-day stuff:

No two days are ever the same at Sorted so what you’ll be up to will vary. The pace we move at also means priorities will change and you’ll need to be comfortable with this (we’ll support you!). But these are the things that will be core to your role and will keep you busy.

  • Define and implement a comprehensive Business Intelligence capability to cover the following key points:
  • Identification of data
  • Storage of data
  • Provisioning of data and related resources/infrastructure
  • Processing of data
  • Data governance
  • Identify and correlate disparate data sources to provide a unified and consistent view of data across the organisation
  • Maintain and develop the company data warehouse function
  • Work closely with stakeholders and product owners across the business to determine data and reporting requirements and determine recommendations for improvement
  • Design, implement and manage a reporting process for all data across the business in order to provide access to statistics and analysis for all data sets
  • Standardise and optimise customer data across the organisation
  • Support the business to analyse data, find insights, and build statistical models
  • Develop and maintain a catalogue of information flow, data, and data structures including data definitions and data flow diagrams
  • Lead on all GDPR-related data changes and reports
  • Implement a robust data governance process to ensure standards are set and adhered to
  • Create frameworks and best practices for data management across the organisation
  • Advise teams in terms of implementation of data hosting and archiving practices
  • Identify new data requirements and inform the process of collecting, storing, and using data in new and existing products and features
  • Support & deputise for team members as required including periods of absence, mutually
  • Identify efficiency measures in order to improve workflows & process outcomes for the benefit of Sorted & its customers
  • Identify data risks and security issues related to storage and processing of data
  • Turning complex datasets drawn from multiple sources in simplified actionable insight and analytics

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in data analysis to identify patterns, trends, anomalies etc.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to define, understand, interpret and challenge business requirements and translate the requirements into solutions
  • Data Architecture or Data Engineering experience
  • Demonstrable experience of using SQL Server Data Tools. SSMS, SSAS, SSRS & SSIS
  • Expert knowledge in data warehouse principals with experience in top down and bottom-up data warehouse design (Inmon or Kimball)
  • Experience in using cloud based and on-premise ETL tools, eg. Azure Data Factory, SSIS
  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning programmes such as R or Python
  • Experience in MDM, data integration, data management
  • Advanced user of cloud-based analytics tools eg. Power BI, Tableau
  • Skilled in Microsoft DevOps for source control and deployment processes
  • Experience of working closely with data from sales platforms (Salesforce or Hubspot) to extract & load data to and from the platform
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

And it would be super great if you had:

  • You know what it’s like to work in a scale up company and love the vibe (and sometimes chaos!)
