Job Description

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for collaborating with peers and development teams to design, implement and maintain infrastructure solutions. They will be responsible for streamlining the operations by designing and implementing automated solutions.

Basic Requirements

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and maintain our infrastructure both in the cloud (AWS & Azure) and on-premise, ensuring we meet our SLAs

• Build and maintain monitoring and APM solutions

• Implement automation tools for infrastructure provisioning (IaC)

• Design and implement automated configuration management

• Manage the automated deployment solutions

• Assist the development teams in managing their CI/CD pipelines

• Automate the provisioning of environments including dev, test and production

• Contribute to new and ongoing solutions

• Maintain documentation for the various solutions

• Incident management and resolution

GENERAL EDUCATION:

Nice to have: Tertiary level computer science or software engineering

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Solid experience with system administration on both Windows and Linux platforms

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure & Google Cloud

• Strong experience with networking concepts and tools (e.g. VPNs, DNS, Firewalls)

• Experience and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with configuration management tools

• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC)

• Ability to script in languages such as BASH, PowerShell, Gradle

• Experience with automated deployment tools such as Octopus Deploy or Spinnaker

• SecOps and best practice security conventions

• Experience with APM tools such as AppDynamics, NewRelic

• Experience with containerisation (eg. Docker) and container orchestration such as Kubernetes

• Understanding of Git and associated tools, platforms and practices

• Working knowledge in networking

• Good understanding of security practices and concepts

+5 years in IT

+2 years working in a DevOps role
