Director of Cloud Operations at BigHand

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Actively promoting DevOps ways of working between teams and SRE best practice Part of the Senior leadership team in BigHands technology function, managing a team of Engineers
• System provisioning and automation, monitoring, metrics, scalability, security and hardening
• Working with other engineers, providing the platform, templates and knowledge to - deliver a smooth automation process from the start to the end of the project lifecycle Helping maintain Infrastructure as Code, alongside Docker & Kubernetes/AKS for containerisation
• Have full ownership of the infrastructure platform technical strategy
• Be responsible for the health and upkeep of the critical services
• You will be a passionate technologist who is excited about automation and engineering, and building future proof production reliable platforms, ensuring operational excellence is met throughout
• Manage the technical incident response to service outages
• Accountable for meeting the SLA’s and KPI’s defined for the applications on the Azure platform
• Managing the on call support rota

Skills/Experience Required

• Strong understanding of Cloud technology
• Experience working in a highly available production environment
• Excellent knowledge of immutable infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, Continuous - Integration and Continuous Deployment
• Deployment of Infrastructure using Terraform, Packer, AKS
• Experience with Azure DevOps Piplines
• Experience of networking
• Excellent understanding of security and automating security in the pipeline.
• It would be highly beneficial if this individual comes from a software engineering - background
• Programming and scripting skills e.g. C# & Powershell
• Familiar with Agile methodologies
• The ability to lead, manage and inspire other members of the DevOps team
• Familiarity with IaaS and managing Windows Servers for legacy support while we - migrate to PaaS, creation of images using Packer Understand and keep up to date with business specific technologies & systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, combined with the ability to - provide quick resolution to problems- Previous experience of leading and managing a Cloud/DevOps team
