Senior Software Engineer at OpenSC

Job Description:

About the role:

We are looking for a talented, team-oriented, senior full stack software engineer to join our growing team at OpenSC. The following is a list of the accumulating activities and responsibilities you will take on during your first year at OpenSC.

First Weeks:

• Join team meetings to understand our ongoing product and solution development work.
• Ramp up on our existing code bases and infrastructure.
• Pair with Engineers to pick up stories, and ship to production.

First Months:

• Participate in and help run our team rituals: pull requests, monitoring/alerting, stand up, retro, contribute to our weekly dev huddle, and present a demo in our regular all-hands.
• Work with our solution development teams to help bring an early concept into our roadmap with the help of product.

First Year:

• Take ownership of a workstream as a technical Anchor, help to define the technical requirements of an end to end solution, and lead the delivery of an early stage solution into the field - working as part of a team with product and the solution development team members.
• Participate in our hiring processes, interview and onboard new Engineers to the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or equivalent technical degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science

Required Skills/Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant industry experience building production software.
• Professional proficiency with Kotlin, Spring Boot, Typescript, React.js, AWS, - Kubernetes, Terraform, etc. or equivalents
• Strives to build well factored solutions with a mind toward maintainability and pragmatism
• Values high test coverage, proficient with CI/CD & TDD
• A person who demonstrates teamwork in all they do and is comfortable with pairing Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills in English

Bonus Points:

• Experience working with data pipelines and technologies such as Apache Airflow
• Experience with decentralised technologies
• Android mobile development experience
• The ability to hold your own in commercial conversations with solution partners and customers
• Experience in a consulting or agency context
• Experience in the AgTech or supply chain / logistics industry
• Additional languages spoken (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese)
