The Junior Software Engineer will work as part of one of our delivery squads; building and maintaining complex software solutions for our Financial Services clients.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team building up your knowledge of our products and technologies through on the job experience, mentoring and more formal training. You will be assigned a mentor and will be coached by other developers and senior developers.

We are looking for developers who are passionate about technology, have a good foundation in developing software with an ability to solve problems and pick up new concepts quickly.

This position would be an ideal first role for someone with strong software development skills gained from College/University or for someone with ~ 1 years’ experience developing software in another Organisation.

There will also be an opportunity for you further your training and development and take part in our Degree Apprenticeship Program with Heriot Watt University.

The role will be based in our Edinburgh Office.

Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Work with the squad to understand client requirements.

• Develop software (fixes and features) in line with our software development processes.

• Build unit tests around your code.

• Work with senior developers in code reviews and pair programming to further develop your skills and knowledge.

• Work collaboratively within an Agile squad with a focus on deliver and customer outcomes.

• Build your technical and product knowledge.

Education:

HND Computing or higher

  • Or -

Level 8 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)

Experience:

Experience in developing software programs through work experience, College/University projects or home projects.

Skills:

• Experience with some/all of the following programming Languages:

• Java

• .Net (C#)

• Oracle Databases & PL/SQL

• SQL

• Strong Mathematical background

• Enthusiastic and ability to learn new concepts quickly

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills; comfortable engaging with others within the company (and clients where required)
