About Role - Remote Senior Android Developer (Kotlin, OpenGL)

A UK based Start-up is building an innovative and disruptive video mobile application.

You will be reporting directly to the CTO based in UK. As Senior Android Developer, you’ll participate in all development aspects of the solution. Your mission will be to drive the progress of the app and the Android team while providing the best user experience imaginable.

This is a full-time permanent role for a true self-starter, someone who wants to build something from the beginning.

As our Senior Android Developer, you’ll be responsible for

  • You will play a key role in designing, building and maintaining large-scale, high availability mobile applications for various Android devices
  • Architect, develop and test native Android applications
  • Work across UI, service layers, and backend technologies to create server-driven native client solutions
  • Shine with engineering excellence by developing test infrastructures, writing documentation, ensuring high performance, and following an agile development methodology
  • Write entirely new code and maintain and update existing codeResearch on new frameworks for improving the architecture of Android application
  • Ensure development best practices are followed (Clean Code, Clean Architecture, code reviews)
  • Your mission will be to drive the progress of the app and the mobile team while providing the best user experience imaginable
  • Actively communicate with the stakeholders, team members, and clients

What do we value?

  • Fluent in Kotlin- A minimum 5 of years is required
  • Understanding & working knowledge of OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is required
  • Experience in video processing is a nice to have,
  • Passion for Android design
  • Good knowledge and understanding of algorithms and design patterns
  • CI/CD, Test Driven Development, BDD
  • Good understanding of engineering best practices, methodologies and mobile development tools
  • Ability to work efficiently - use 3rd party libraries, be able to prioritise tasks based on business requirements / customer priorities
  • Have experience building scalable Android applications
  • Good understanding of networking protocols and concepts like REST, HTTP/HTTPS
  • Ability to work in a diverse, results-oriented, multicultural, remote-team environment
  • Great communication, collaboration skills and a strong teamwork mentality
  • Able to proactively communicate with non-technical stakeholders, manage expectations, and explain the value of addressing technical debt.
