We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Cyber Support Analyst to join Royal London Group on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract in Edinburgh or Nether Alderley.

Role purpose

The Cyber Support Analyst will triage and investigate potential security issues which may result in cybersecurity incidents. The role will perform triage of newly discovered cyber events and co-ordinate confirmed cyber events with the defence team to investigate, with a heavy focus on triaging and investigating malicious emails.

Key responsibilities

• All security events investigated and tracked to remediation within agreed SLA’s

• Undertake monitoring of RLG security controls, working with the defence team to test they are operating within the expected detection guidelines

• Security event alerting or dashboard improvements identified to deliver service efficiencies

• Work closely with peers and stakeholders across SOC, cyber threat intelligence & cyber incident response.

• Demonstrate IT Security knowledge through production of security awareness reports

• Understanding of Security Monitoring tooling used in both on premise & cloud environments

• Attendance at Security related events such as Gartner, InfoSec and IP Expo

• Reflect the Spirit of Royal London values through demonstrating positive behaviours in relation to your objectives and all stakeholders.

• Take ownership of your own development by ensuring that you have a clear and defined development plan that you continually review and work towards.

• Apply risk management techniques in your day-to-day role

• Control frameworks regularly tested with improvement plans agreed and implemented

• Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit reports do not identify any significant unknown risks/weaknesses

Essential Criteria

• Experience triaging and investigating malicious emails at scale with the ability to complete investigations from triage to resolution on your own.

• Knowledge and hands-on experience of security information and event management (SIEM) tools from industry leaders. Splunk knowledge preferred.

• Analytical and methodical approach to demanding technical challenges

• Used to working to a high level of accuracy and have a dedicated and focused work ethic

• Positive ‘can do’ attitude, service oriented

• A team player with the ability to work at pace with their peers in a demanding cyber security environment

Desirable Criteria

• Familiar with audit event collection and reporting toolsets

• Technical security qualifications are a nice to have e.g., SANS, Offensive Security or other industry accreditors

• Previous experience of working within a regulated environment, ideally the financial services industry

• Previous experience automating manual workflows
