Grade 8 (£42,146 to £50,296, with discretionary range to £54,943). A market supplement may be payable up to a total maximum salary of £57,000

The deadline for this vacancy has been extended to 27 October.

Applications are invited for a Full Stack Web Developer to work with the DataLab, at the University of Oxford, led by Dr Ben Goldacre. This is a career-defining opportunity to develop core product functionality for OpenSAFELY, a revolutionary open source platform for secure, internationally-important medical research. You will work in a small, productive, ambitious, very fast-moving team of software developers, academics, and clinicians, all pooling skills and knowledge to build platforms and tools as well as traditional academic papers.

The successful applicant’s responsibilities will include software development, new feature research and development, maintenance, refactoring and sysops. You will help solve challenging, novel engineering and user interface problems in the fields of medical informatics and reproducible research.

You will be able to demonstrate strong experience in client and server side development, preferably using React and Python. You will be self-motivated, and enjoy contributing to a supportive, helpful culture. You will enjoy working collaboratively in small teams, with a light management touch.

This can be a largely-remote role (within the UK), and is up to full-time; flexible and part-time working are acceptable.

The team are based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.

The position is available full-time and is fixed-term for two years in the first instance.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 27th October.
