Senior Backend Engineer - Marketplace at Indeed Flex

About the team:

The Matching team aims to enable Indeed Flex to balance Client and Workers' needs. We are building tools for decision-making and automated solutions to support the company goals. The team is responsible for designing and implementing intelligent, automated solutions, leveraging a wide range of algorithms to improve the quality of our matching and ranking logic: classifications, predictions, causal inferences, clustering, but also descriptive statistics, and simple heuristics with great visualizations.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Machine Learning engineers to design, deliver, monitor and improve models in production to help employers and workers achieve their goals
• Work with engineering leadership and other Senior / Staff Engineers to evaluate technologies, infrastructure and architecture, driving improvements in all three
• Design and implementation of components to automate the different operations on our Marketplace
• Work with other Product/Engineering teams to integrate these components into their ecosystem

Requirements:

• Experience in dealing with various data sources to fetch the data you need (currently: S3, Postgres, Redshift, Parquet files…)
• Deep knowledge of Python
• Experience designing efficient data storage strategies to support complex workloads
• Deep understanding of best practices to design APIs and event-driven architectures
• Experience deploying and running Python components in AWS

Nice to have:

• Experience building automated deployment pipelines in AWS
• Experience implementing data pipelines
• You know some of the critical aspects of delivering and running data-science - components end-to-end: reliability, quality of service, storage management, short-term and long-term prioritization, roadmap consolidation...
• Experience in implementing Information Retrieval systems (search engines, recommender systems…), measuring their performances, and you understand how their behaviors are tied to business goals.
