Job Description:

At Diode, we’re on a mission to drive a faster, easier switch to electric vehicles across the world. The UK only has 8 years to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles, and we’re accelerating the change by using technology to make the electrification process pain-free for everyone.

Our platform helps to break down the barriers to EV adoption by using the power of data science to educate drivers, assess EV readiness, make workplace and home charging recommendations, and simplify the charge point purchasing process. We’re on a battery-powered rocket ship with massive, disruptive growth plans, already backed by VC, private investors, and the UK government via Innovate UK.

We’re an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion, and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.

The Role:

  • Develop and test our exciting pipeline of new features, while also refactoring legacy code to bring into line with our current framework, under guidance from the Development Manager.
  • Manage own workflow and deliver tasks in a timely manner, as identified through the development management system.
  • Maintain and contribute to the strong coding standards of the development team by writing high quality code, in line with those of the wider development community.
  • Get stuck in with the team and be comfortable contributing ideas to both solve development problems and help deliver a strong consumer-grade application.

Requirements:

  • We’re open-minded on background. A degree in a relevant field is nice to have, but we’re more interested in what you can do
  • You must have experience with:
    • PHP & Laravel framework
    • HTML5/CSS3
    • JavaScript
  • Nice to have experience with (or eager to learn):

    • Git (e.g. GitHub and/or Bitbucket)
  • Docker and package management (e.g. Composer and/or npm)
  • Familiar with development management systems such as Jira or similar
  • An analytical but pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and you know when to ask for help if you get stuck
  • A positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a clear, systematic way on your own or with other team members

Company Benefits

  • 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays and your birthday off
  • Up to 3 days a year of paid volunteering leave for a sustainability project or a personal development course of your choice – time to learn new skills or give back to the community
