Role Purpose:

In this role you will design and deliver security engineering capabilities for Neo4j’s Database-as-a-service offering (Neo4j Aura) and related services ensuring that the appropriate preventive and detective controls are in place and improving the overall cloud security posture.

Core Responsibilities - In this role you can expect to:

• Deliver projects dedicated to improving Neo4j’s cloud network security posture.

• Actively monitor the threat landscape for current or emerging network-based threats as well as carrying out threat modelling which can guide the actions of the SOC.

• Work with SRE and Incident Response teams to develop enhanced monitoring, using applied threat intelligence and real-time security analytics.

• Participate in incident response processes and activities and support the development of effective detection use cases.

• Act as a security SME focused on cloud network services, APIs, secure network communications, modern firewalls, and cloud IDS.

• Participate in the design and development of proactive security features that will help the organisation understand internal and external threats in network systems.

• Research, evaluate, implement and maintain cloud security tooling.

Competencies - Our ideal candidate would have some of the following:

• An active interest and background in computer and network security.

• Proven experience in a security engineering role with hands-on technical involvement, and exposure to decision making processes.

• Demonstrated ability to architect cloud-native applications including the design of APIs and microservices on containers.

• Exposure to one or more of the following: GCP / AWS / Azure.

• Deep understanding of network security best practices

• Experience with Containers, Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code.

• Hands-on experience with Bash, Python, Go or similar programming languages.

• Familiarity with cloud-native network policy providers (i.e. Calico, Cilium), IP routing/switching, next generation firewalls (NGFWs) and service mesh and proxies (i.e. istio, Envoy).
