Job Description:

We’re looking for a full-stack engineer to join our small but dedicated engineering team. You'll report to the CTO directly and be influential in determining the course of the platform and the experience of our users. As a developer you'll work on scoping out features, pushing fixes, implementing improvements and generally making the platform better.

We're looking for a developer who is keen to get stuck in: you'll be working on backend code as well as the interface but will also have a hand in some aspects of the infrastructure - being confident in your abilities yet willing to learn is essential.

If you're someone who values their skills being stretched, then this role might just be for you!

What you'll do:

  • Working in Laravel, Vue.Js, LiveWire, and AlpineJs on our platform and associated sites.
  • Ensuring best practices are adhered to, you'll be writing clean, maintainable and solid code, helped along by using TDD.
  • Keeping the customer's needs in mind, you'll work t develop features and improvements that add maximum value to the platform.
  • Managing your workload with a mix of Agile and Kanban (KanPlan)
  • We're small, but growing: this means you'll be involved in helping to steer the direction of the company.
  • Keeping security top of mind, you'll ensure that everything we release will be as robust as it can be.

  • Have a problem-solving mindset and solid experience of software development
  • Are used to working with customers to solve issues, senior members of the company to scope out problems and your fellow engineers to build solutions.
  • Aren't phased getting your hands dirty: the command line won't intimidate you and the tools and processes of a modern software development environment will be familiar to you.
  • Are able to move fast, but also understand when to slow down and take stock of things. You'll be able to manage your workload without too much supervision.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

Desired skills (helpful, but not essential!):

  • Git and CI/CD systems and associated software (GitHub Actions, Ansible etc.)

Interview Process

First step A chat with the CTO to introduce the company and allow opportunity for you to ask questions. Take time to look at our company page and read a few blog posts on mentoring!

Second step Technical challenge: a short challenge (few hours at most) to gauge your skills. We'll take a look at this and get back to you within a few days.

Final step Chat with the CTO to review the coding submission and discuss further technical matters. Here, we're looking to explore your knowledge and allow some back and forth on architectural design, processes, practice.
