As a Systems / Hardware Engineer in Keysight’s Aerospace & Defense Custom Solutions (ADCS) group you will work within a highly talented and passionate team to develop and deliver world class custom test solutions. At the beginning of each project you will utilize your technical expertise to understand the customer problem, map out the customer requirements and propose solutions. Next, you will architect, design and develop the solution prior to delivery. You will ultimately be responsible for designing RF and electronic hardware to interface to and make complex measurements on customer UUTs (Units Under Test), leveraging the latest test equipment from Keysight and 3rd parties. You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle; from proposal to acceptance and you will frequently and directly collaborate with customers at a technical level.

ADCS Edinburgh exists primarily to serve European customers. We operate as part of a worldwide team headquartered in Loveland, Colorado. We work with customers on a wide variety of technologies primarily in the Radar, Electronic Warfare and Satellite domains. We collaborate with Keysight’s solutions, sales and services teams to provide differentiated solutions that fit our customers’ unique needs.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Typically 8+ years relevant experience
  • System design expertise
    • Block diagram development against requirements
    • System and sub-system interface definition
    • In Test & Measurement; i.e. using instrumentation, remote control and test automation (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of RF design concepts & test - Transmitter and receiver design principles; radio propagation and antenna principles; analog & digital modulation - RF Amplifiers, Filters, Couplers, Splitters, Switches - Measurements: Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Time Domain, Calibration.
  • Working knowledge of analog / digital electronics design & test
    • Analog / high speed digital design principles
    • Serial / parallel communications standards
    • Schematic capture, circuit layout fundamentals (decoupling, current handling, ground planes, controlled impedance tracking)
    • System Simulation (e.g. ADS, SPICE); Measurement Uncertainty analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft software development products (Visual Studio for C++, C# and .NET) (desirable)
