We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud and Data Engineer to join and help build our Data Science team to develop advanced analytics, data science & AI solutions to solve business problems in a customer obsessed environment. At Phoenix, we realised that in order to deliver our growth ambition that this needs to be underpinned by a culture of learning, adapting and experimentation. We see these as core elements that underpin Data Science.

With our Chief Data Scientist coming onboard this year we are looking to build our Data Science team. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Data Science team and develop, build and deploy data science solutions for a variety of problems. We are building to establish best and modern data science practices from day 1 in our data science team to ensure we innovate at scale and speed.

You will work with different parts of the business including technology, digital and analytical teams and be the engineer to support the data scientists and business across variety of use cases that will stretch from ad-hoc advanced analytics solutions, small-scale bespoke dashboards to deploying machine learning models in production environment.

**Key Responsibilities **

• Build, support and maintain cloud based Data Science Platform to build data science solutions modern software techniques and tools

• Work within agile squads in a multi-disciplinary

• Work closely with technology and data community to build capabilities, to mentor and influence more broadly the importance of data science

• ETL to bring data to platform, structure it, clean and make it re-useable

What We’re Looking For

**Essential **

• AWS S3, Glue, Sagemaker

• AWS DynamoDB, AWS Aurora / AWS Athena

• Orchestration / AWS Managed Airflow

• Aspects of working with Cloud Security (IAMs / RBAC / Permissions)

• Understanding of Principles of Cloud Governance

• Data Lake engines & Lake House architectures

• Programming skills in at least one language

**Desirable **

Any AWS Cloud certifications considered, the following considered advantageous;

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect - Associate

  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer = Associate

Key Competencies

Cloud and Data Engineering

AWS Architectural solution development, implementation and support. Development on data pipelines using Python, SQL, Lambda and Step Functions taking advantage of AWS services such as Glue.
