Job Description:

What we are looking for:

To support our ambitious growth plans, we're looking for a Python Backend Engineer to join our remote-first cross-functional tech team of engineers, and data scientists & ML specialists.

We have developed a core document-processing capability for a rapidly expanding corpus of published regulations and supported regulatory themes. Your role will be to work closely with tech leadership to roll out the crucial organisational tooling which facilitates it — for internal stakeholders such as crawler engineers, annotators, regulatory analysts, and data scientists — and the customer-facing APIs which realise its value to paying customers & end-users.

  • You enjoy working with tech leaders to turn high-level plans into more detailed technical components and be comfortable working in an agile way to deliver working software

You'll have:

  • 3 years of experience writing code professionally
  • Knowledge of Python 3 and significant back-end libraries
  • Several years of experience developing in cloud environments, especially AWS
  • A good understanding of data engineering principles, schema & API design
  • Enthusiasm for developing your skills and experience in the context of a growing start-up
  • A talent for solving problems iteratively, often with a high level of uncertainty

Nice to have:

  • An interest in the real-world application of information extraction and retrieval, - and Natural Language Processing
  • Experience with CI pipelines and DevOps methods
  • Experience working with Kubernetes & Helm charts
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices, particularly on AWS with SageMakerStudio
