Job Description:

The Role

We’re searching for someone to lead our engineering team. Your biggest challenge, working alongside our head of product, will be to lead your team on the continued design and build of our Skills Cloud platform and the workforce and HR applications that sit on top of it. Our focus is on implementing an architecture that breaks down dependencies to allow for multiple innovative and decoupled engineering teams to deliver applications at high velocity.

You’ll also need to scale up the team to bring on board the resources needed to meet the demands of our customers and market.

Your role will include working with your globally distributed product, design and management colleagues to ensure that everyone is coordinating and communicating well. As such, you must be familiar with all aspects of the SDLC and be able to provide support across all of these domains.

Responsibilities

You’ll lead our engineering function and help us build a market-leading product by:

  • Building, managing and supporting a remote, diverse team of software engineers
  • Providing both technical and people leadership
  • Upholding a culture of respect, integrity, inclusion, innovation
  • Establishing and managing the end to end development and release process with strong emphasis on continuous delivery and improvement
  • Forming cross-functional and cross-discipline partnerships to create a roadmap, organise deliverables and resources and drive development efforts on a continuous basis
  • Having a deep understanding of the capabilities and velocity of individuals and teams to optimise performance and remove blocks slowing us down
  • Driving your team’s performance though OKRs

Requirements

  • You have significant work experience building and leading remote teams composed of frontend, server side, full-stack and QA engineers
  • You’ve led teams of different nationalities and are mindful of different cultures and communication needs
  • You’ve led teams composed of both junior and senior engineers and know how to be a catalyst for positive change and continuous improvement
  • You’ve built innovative products and applications from scratch at a rapidly-growing startup Ideally you have experience building HR software or SaaS products for enterprise customers, though this is not essential
  • You’re interested in the use of AI and understand its core principles and pros and cons
