As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Who are we looking for?

The Oracle Analytics Service Excellence (OAC-SE) team is seeking an energetic software engineer to plan, execute, and drive the delivery of complex software solutions. You will coordinate efforts between operations, technology, and product teams. The objective is to effectively and efficiently operationalize critical division-wide services, resulting in increased overall customer satisfaction.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, plan, develop and support software services in partnership with teams: detailed estimates, a quality plan, key deliverables, risks, issues, documentation, and dependencies • Support the operation of OAC’s SaaS offerings including: • Analyzing metrics and logs, troubleshoot, and document infrastructure and service issues with the objective of improving availability through automation • Creating and maintaining Cloud DevOps tools and reports required for incident and problem management • Manage and continuously improve existing OAC-SE capabilities and tools • Manage issues and risks within the scope of work, escalating as appropriate • Participate in a follow-the-sun model for 24x7 support of OAC services, including start / stop / upgrading cloud infrastructure and services • Perform daily tasks in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards • Resource (computer, storage, and network capacity) planning, budget, negotiation, compliance, and management • Other duties as assigned

General Qualifications

Education level/Qualifications: BS / BA degree in a relevant field

The candidate must also have knowledge and experience with:

• Python programming language - to continue to enhance and extend our automation framework • Data analysis - using tools or techniques (using applications or code which eventually automates it) to collect, normalize, and display a set of relevant data (usage statistics, cost statistics, patch level details) from multiple sources to ensure business decisions can be made in a timely fashion. • Providing operational support for global scale, customer-facing services • Developing and supporting software services including UI and tool design • Demonstrated competence in operational support and software development for large scale customer-facing web services • Software documentation skills • Methodical approaches to troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems
• Issue tracking and collaboration (Jira and Confluence) • Documentation in support of developed work (KBs, run books, help guides) • Utilizing agile methodologies • Communicating effectively in a team environment • Working independently and in a self-directed manner

Ideal Skills:

• Familiarity with automating the collection of cost data from exposed APIs for cloud resources • Familiarity with automating the collection of performance (cpu, network iops, disk iops, memory utilization) and reliability from various exposed APIs for cloud resources • Ability to analyze requirements and pinpoint those aspects that affect scale/bottlenecks of a given solution and in time estimate the right size/shape of resources that will efficiently meet the demands of that solution. Continuous improvement of the solutions deployed (working across teams) to make the most efficient use of our cloud resources.
