Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are Colorado-specific.

Colorado Pay Range: from $105,000 to $234,000 per annum eligible for bonus and equity.

Responsibilities

As a Manager on the Storage, Virtualization and Operating System (SVOS) team, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software/platform architectures and performance benchmarking to lead tasks associated with product characterization, modeling, analysis, tuning, and debugging software/hardware applications, and OS drivers according to current and future design specifications by applying deep expertise in data storage, networking and systems development and performance assessment.

Direct and ensure operational excellence through team members and internal and external cross-functional partners. Have demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, and ability to deal with uncertainties. Involve in the well-being of the organization by influencing team members, identifying, and addressing hurdles. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of data storage/system performance benchmarking or related experience.

Responsibilities:

• Defining and managing team roadmap, working with individual team members by motivating and executing the key deliverables • Provide technical expertise and leadership by reviewing test plans, and owning the end-to-end execution • Understand product requirements, validate, and expose the performance gaps. • Help in performance requirements of future products by system modeling and analysis • Vested interest in customers' positive experience with the performance of our products from the data center to the cloud • Recruit and scale a talented, diverse, capable, and cohesive engineering team • Comfortable in Representing the team at the VP and SVP level

The ideal candidate will thrive as an Individual performance investigator and as a manager building the team's strategic vision and OKRs. You will have excellent listening and communication skills to direct and guide your team through product and operational complexities. You must be well versed in team management, IO performance testing, measuring methods, and the latest storage technologies. You will be comfortable working on systems that include Linux and Solaris operating systems. Experience working with standard tools and processes such as git, Mercurial, and Jira is highly desired. Someone who enjoys working across multiple disciplines, teams, and organizations.

As a Performance Team leader, you are passionate about analyzing systems and the organization's business charter. Responsibilities will include optimizing the efficiency and specificity of current performance testing for quality, development support, and product management. In this responsibility, you will use your leadership, team building, and subject matter expertise to influence product development and engineering team processes. You will further this work by architecting new performance testing methods for the product characterization for multiple areas within Oracle's product portfolio of engineered and cloud systems.

Qualifications:

• Expertise in data storage, network protocols, and system performance characterization and analysis • 8 years of experience designing, delivering, and operating complex integrated platforms for enterprise and mission-critical applications • 5 years of experience managing organizations, preferably with results-oriented hands-on expertise • Demonstrated success in mentoring and growing junior engineers to senior levels • Deep knowledge of filesystems, networking, operating systems, distributed systems, and high-performance computing • Experience with automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment tools • Passionate about collaborating with excellent written and verbal communication skills • Expertise in data analysis with Python/R with proven knowledge of statistical applications. With some knowledge of machine learning and application to uncover insights in complex datasets
