Front-End Engineer - Calendar at Proton

Job Description:

The Proton Calendar team is building the end-to-end encrypted calendar solution of the Proton ecosystem serving millions of customers worldwide. As a software engineer, you will solve complex technical and design challenges, and implement best practices in code quality and architecture to ensure reliable and fast customer experiences. You will develop systems designed to operate at the internet scale, and partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and other team members to influence our products' future direction. You will continuously invest in developing code quality while ensuring fast feature delivery for your customers.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to design, build, test, and optimise Proton Calendar for Web
  • Develop high-quality user experiences by collaborating with UX engineers and our Core team
  • Write readable, maintainable, tested, and well-documented code
  • Ensure that acceptance criteria and all parts of the technical design are correctly incorporated
  • Follow and promote engineering best practices
  • Take part in team activities, such as sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and pair programming
  • Share your knowledge and skills with the rest of the team and the Web chapter

Job requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience using JavaScript or similar language, and working on concepts such as asynchronous programming, closures, and ES6, at a minimum
  • Experience using React
  • Proven proficiency with TypeScript or another strongly typed language
  • Experience using RESTful APIs
  • Experience testing your own code using automated tests, writing unit, integration, and UI tests (e.g. using Jest, Mocha, Cypress, Playwright)
  • A product mindset and you are committed to building the best user experience
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment

Bonus points for:

  • Well-versed in security and with a good understanding of security best practices from an application development standpoint
  • Complex UI-related experience
  • Experience working in a distributed team
