9xb is an eCommerce specialist that exists to challenge the way online experiences are delivered, offering technical, practical and creative solutions that overcome barriers to growth. We design award winning eCommerce websites and marketing campaigns for some fantastic clients, including Euro Car Parts, Watco,
Jigsaw24, Doves Farm, and many more.
With our PHP (Symfony based) eCommerce platform, “Peracto”, 9xb has been able to develop and support large scale eCommerce projects for its clients for a number of years. Though the platform underpins all of our clients’ web applications, the core of what we offer is successfully managing the long-term relationships that we build with our clients, allowing their sites to grow and evolve with changing business demands. To do this, 9xb needs to be adept at creating bespoke modifications and updates that remain scalable, stable, performant and secure.
With a wealth of experience and skills inside the business already, and given our many clients with different requirements, this challenging and fast-paced role will provide plenty of opportunity for growth whilst working on exciting and varied projects.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a range of eCommerce projects using our PHP (Symfony based) eCommerce platform
- Work alongside team members to estimate functional requirements for existing projects
- Develop the planned work to meet the functional requirements
- Ensure all work is delivered to high standard, quality, and best practice
- Ensure all work is built with adequate testing
- Working with the QA team to implement appropriate testing and mitigate regression
- Provide support and documentation for the technical related you are working on to the wider business
- Commercial awareness
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with client and business objectives
- Ensure high client satisfaction by consistently delivering high-quality work, on time and to budget
- Provide accurate estimates by ensuring you have a complete understanding of project requirements
- Proactively communicate issues, challenges and blockers early to manage stakeholder expectations
- Find innovative and efficient solutions to new challenges
- Build reusable code and libraries to improve efficiency and maintainability
- Continuing professional development

Job Requirements
Essential skills:
- At least 3 years’ experience working in back-end (web) development
- Strong understanding of, and experience with a PHP MVC such as (Symfony, Laravel, Zend) - (ideally Symfony) framework
- Use of ORMs such as Doctrine (and ideally SQL knowledge)
- Working regularly with APIs and Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc)
- Unit Testing
- Good communication skills
Desirable skills:
- Working knowledge of E-Commerce platforms.
- Working knowledge of payment gateways
- API platform experience / Building restful API’s
- Experience / Awareness of AWS/cloud architecture
- The use of Docker / Composer
- Good understanding of design principles (SOLID, DRY, etc) and design patterns
- The use of TDD (Test Driven Development) practice or other testing practice
- Experience working within an Agile environment
- Agile Scrum project management with Jira
