HTTPie is an early-stage startup building tools for developers and rethinking the human-to-API relationship from first principles. We recently raised a $6.5M Seed Round (from Coatue, Blossom Capital, Addition, the founders of Monzo, Intercom, and others). Now we’re building out our founding Engineering & Product Team—that’s where you come in!
We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help us shape the future of API tools.
What you’ll do
• Collaborate with the team to build a product for API developers and consumers like yourself • Deliver performant, testable, maintainable, and high-quality code on frontend and backend • Implement features with a focus on simplicity and top-notch user experience • Take operational responsibility for the parts that you develop • Have a lot of autonomy and fun while doing so
You’ll be a great addition to the team if you have
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience • Experience with JavaScript and React • Solid understanding of modern coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques • Solid understanding of HTTP and modern APIs • Passion for developer tools and sense for what makes them amazing • Passion for simplicity, delightful user experience, and an eye for design • Good sense for when to choose a robust vs. minimal solution to move fast • Ability to comfortably navigate the ladder of abstraction • Strong communication skills, especially in writing • Eagerness to learn and share
Bonus points
• Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel, Electron/PWAs, WebAssembly • Experience with Python, Rust, or Go • Experience with building distributed systems, AWS ecosystem, Terraform • Experience building a technology product • Early-stage startup experience • Open-source development experience • History of side projects • Entrepreneurial spirit
