What is the role?

We're looking for a demonstrated engineering leader with experience building market-leading products, who can work closely with our Chief Engineer as we bring innovation to the world of private equity. The role will play a pivotal part in the shaping of a new pod within our engineering function and nurturing this into a high-performing engineering team developing and delivering high-quality products and features. You will be comfortable being hands-on with coding, contributing to architectural decisions and mentoring and developing team members. You will be:

  • Managing and mentoring the team to help them grow in their careers and perform at their very best - through career progression frameworks, pair programming, code reviews, mentoring and feedback sessions.
  • Improving the development processes and identifying inefficiencies within the practice by utilising frameworks of standards and procedures to promote technical excellence.
  • Defining the technical direction of the projects by being a key contributor to architectural decisions and technology choices.
  • Contributing to the development of new products and features.
  • Utilising your wealth of expertise to unblock teams where needed, to ensure we keep momentum and pace in line with delivery deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a technical leadership role where you have been responsible for leading a Scrum Team
  • Experience managing and structuring engineering teams in an Agile environment, preferably having worked with remote and distributed teams
  • Extensive experience in software development, with an excellent understanding of software architecture and system design
  • Familiarity with full-stack software development - (our tech stack is JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue and NodeJS but we are open to candidates who have experience with other languages and technologies too)
  • Excellent soft skills - you’ll know how to manage and motivate people, and will know how to influence and communicate your ideas across the business.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and development - we want to always be aware of new technological trends and developments, to remain at the forefront of what we do Confidence in navigating an early-stage start-up with the challenges that can come with it
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, with excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Cloud experience would be a bonus (GCP and/or Azure)
