QA Engineer Job Description

As part of our continued expansion, LR Software are looking for ambitious Software Testers to join our growing testing team, based in either Aberdeen or Newcastle upon Tyne.

The position is for the product All Assets, a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that orchestrates information from different sources into a single application in order to manage and understand risk exposure through inspection.

You will possess the drive, enthusiasm and ambition to form part of a dynamic team within a fast-moving company. You need to be willing to embrace challenges and contribute to a range of projects.

Your duties will include

• Analyse test requirements, design and build case suites, test scripts, and test procedures, with expected results.

• Write and maintain automated tests in the Gherkin syntax following BDD principles that cover user story acceptance criteria.

• Execute manual test plans during regression cycles and analyse and report test results to stakeholders.

• Provide principal testers and project managers with time estimates and deliver to these agreed timescales.

• Work closely with other testers, developers, users and subject matter experts.

To be considered

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences or a relevant numerical subject.

• Appropriate skills gained with 3 or more years of experience in a commercial software environment.

• A marine, energy, petrophysical or geological background would be an advantage to understanding of the business purpose and technical background of what is being tested.

• ISTQB Foundation level or equivalent certification would be an advantage.

• Automation experience beyond simple record and re-play tools for web-based applications would be an advantage.

• A strong interest in software testing with a desire to progress and positively influence software development.

Skills

• Organised, meticulous and systematic with close attention to detail.

• Ability to deal with testing of complex workflows in desktop and/or cloud-based applications (not just standard E-commerce website testing).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to colleagues.

• Willing and able to develop knowledge of the wider area of work.

• Able to deal effectively with unexpected situations, taking advantage of opportunities and overcoming problems.

• Good time management skills and ability to meet targets and fulfil agreements.
