Role Purpose & Background

This role ensures that information is handled securely in line with risk appetite by acting as a key contact for security reviews, issues and guidance, drawing from other areas of knowledge/expertise as required, and will maintain a productive working relationship between security, technology teams and the wider business.

As a part of the Business Engagement & Consultancy function this role will also be involved with education & awareness activities, involvement in major projects and initiatives and act as a subject matter expert for Information Security.

  • Our business is supported by Security, Resilience & Protection. Requirements, objectives and processes are understood, appropriate and in line with business processes wherever possible.

  • Information and cyber security threats, risks and requirements are understood and managed by technology and business stakeholders and our Security teams understand business strategies, objectives and requirements.

  • The information and cyber security risks related to our strategic partners are understood and managed appropriately.

  • Security solutions are supportive of business processes & goals, timely, cost-effective, pragmatic (not excessive) and in line with our threat landscape and the risk appetite of those responsible and the business.

  • External parties, including customers and clients, understand and are satisfied with our information and cyber security approach.

  • An effective education and awareness programme is in place and is continually improved.

  • The security stance of the business as a whole continually improves through, education, the identification and mitigation of risks and the business is advised on how to prevent recurrence of security incidents.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working with Information Security and related topics such as Testing & Assurance, Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Continuity & Resilience,

  • Knowledge of control and risk management processes. Ability to frame decisions in terms of risk. Ability to make risk judgements.

  • Excellent planning skills and high level of organisation and discipline to meet specific targets and objectives.

  • Able to work with others in the organisation; able to build relationships and trust; excellent communication skills, both in presentation and writing, to technology and business stakeholders.

  • An understanding of Governance and Risk principles.
